Jim Shepherd has been with the Walnut Creek office of Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank for six years, specializing in retail services and investments. Before joining Cornish & Carey in 2002, Jim spent almost five years with The Staubach Company in San Francisco as a retail broker. Prior to joining Staubach and the real estate industry, Jim was a Senior Account Representative with Nortel Networks.
Jim’s largest client is JoAnn’s Fabrics for the entire Bay Area territory. Jim has done multiple deals with Jamba Juice, Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill, Regis Corporation (Supercuts and Cost Cutters), Johnny Rockets, and Tuesday Morning. In addition to the above mentioned clients, Jim also currently represents 99¢ Only Stores, Suzuki of Oakland, Extreme Pizza, and Bay Area Sports Destination (BASD). Past clients include Dollar Tree, California Pizza Kitchen, Gloria Jean’s Coffee, Four Seasons Food Company, FunCo Land, American Blue Jeans, and McGraw Partners.
Jim has spent the majority of 2004 to 2007 focusing his efforts on the development, marketing and leasing of the two largest projects in Solano County: Nut Tree Village and Green Valley Plaza for a combined 730,000 square feet.
In addition to representing tenants, Jim also represents landlords. His client list includes: Westrust Ventures, HJ Shein, Garaventa Properties, CIM Group, Lum Kie, LLC, Red Mountain Retail Group, Centervest Capital, and McGraw Partners.
Jim graduated from University of California at Berkeley in 1993 and was awarded his California State Broker’s license in 2001. He currently resides in Lafayette with his wife and two children. During his free time, Jim enjoys snow and water skiing, mountain biking and actively participating on a water rescue dive team.
