Sandy has 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, having started her career in 1979 in property management and lease administration for Western Investment Management Company in Cupertino. After four years, she was promoted to asset manager of a 2 million square foot portfolio that included centers in California, Arizona and Oregon in 1983. In 1985, Sandy was promoted to Director of Leasing and Vice President of Leasing in 1986. Her responsibilities included the development of leasing programs, the creation of strategic management plans and the preparation of shopping center management budgets. She negotiated leases with retailers such as Mervyn’s, Target, Ross Dress for Less, TJ Maxx, Tandy Corporation, J.C. Penney, Michael’s Crafts, Party City, Shoe Pavilion, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Chevy’s, Red Robin, Popeye’s Chicken, and many other national and regional chain tenants and restaurants. Her success led to a co-ownership in the firm and a general partnership in Western Investment Properties, its development subsidiary. In 1996, Sandy was recruited by The Koll Company as Director of Leasing for its Northern California retail projects where she was responsible for a wide range of properties undergoing anchor expansion, center remodeling or market repositioning. A merger took her to CB Richard Ellis where she joined the retail group of the CB Richard Ellis San Jose office. In February, 1999, Sandy and the entire retail group at CB Richard Ellis joined Cornish & Carey Commercial to head-up the new dynamic retail division of real estate services for the company.
